What is Fostering?

Fostering is a temporary arrangement where individuals or families care for rescue dogs in their homes until the dogs find their forever homes. Foster families provide a safe, loving environment, helping dogs adjust, recover, and thrive. This crucial step in the rescue process not only saves lives but also helps dogs become well-socialized and ready for adoption.

Become a Foster, Change a Life Four Paws At a Time

Step 1: Fill out our foster application on our website.

Step 2: A volunteer will contact you after your application is submitted.

Step 3: An in home or virtual home check will be scheduled after a volunteer gets in contact with you. Once approved, we will alert you of any of our upcoming  foster opportunities! Also a fostering training will be scheduled with one of our other fosters/volunteers. (optional if you do have experience)

Step 4: There are a couple different ways that you will receive notifications about which dogs need fosters:

  • As we bring dogs into the rescue we will message you directly and our other fosters, seeing if anyone can foster.

  • If you have a specific preference (you can foster pit bulls, puppies, dogs with special needs, etc.), our team might reach out individually to see if you're available to take a specific dog who needs a foster.

Step 5: After you and our team have agreed upon a dog for you to foster, we will let you know when to pick up the dog.

Step 6: You will be in constant communication with our volunteer team about next steps once you have your foster dog. It ranges anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of months, depending on your schedule and your foster dog’s needs. Our team will be in communication regarding meet and greets with potential adopters.
